Village Popeasca which dates from 1769 is a village with hardworking people, with well-arranged houses, with the smell of basil and quinces in the yard. The school teacher Anton Port is the most well-known person in the village. You can observe his yard from a distance and sure you can not confuse it with another one. Mr. Port often has visitors and delegations from all over the country and from abroad, too.
In the village streets, you can see cozy buses, and people with cameras who discuss something in English, German, or Danish, and all of them are moving to the yard of Anton Port. An ordinary yard with an ordinary gate where you can read: Alternative Energy Center.
There are two windmills around his house: a classic „Camomile” and a modern windmill with blades. They produce energy. This energy turns on the light in bulbs, grinds the flour, and puts into operation the lathe in order to sharpen the tools, the oil mill, and other machines.
It is said that Mr. Port has golden hands. He is a very hardworking person, he doesn‛t have time to rest: you can see him teaching mathematics at the village school or in the Family Tree Museum of the village Popeasca or putting the windmill into operation or lumbering the wood. Mr. Port has also a special occupation namely wood carving. In his house, you can admire the busts of Mihai Eminescu, Alexei Mateevici, Alexandru Pușchin, and the picture of K.
