Description of the Festival

Discover the heart of Moldovan culinary tradition with the At The Furnace With Pies Tour. This authentic experience takes you to a rural village where families still bake pies in traditional clay furnaces. Learn how locals prepare placinte using fresh dough, homemade cheese, apples, pumpkin, and herbs.

As the furnace glows, you’ll hear stories about Moldovan village life and the importance of food in local celebrations. The best part is tasting warm, golden pies straight from the oven, just as generations have done before. This tour offers a perfect blend of culture, flavor, and genuine Moldovan hospitality.

Every year in September in the village of Șolcani, district of Soroca, the regional festival of popular traditions “La cuptorul cu plăcinte” (at the furnace with pies) is organized. The event has the purpose of promoting the traditions and the national cuisine.

The event program includes a display of folk clothing and an exhibition of craftsmen who present a wide range of handicrafts. The event has the slogan „tasty pies like mother’s." Also, during the festival, different artists from Moldova and from abroad participate with their best songs.

Day 1: Arrival - Folk Program Evening

Transfer from the airport to the hotel. In the evening, dinner in the restaurant "La Taifas”, a traditional style including a folk program.

Day 2: Chișinău City

The tour of Chișinău City: Ștefan cel Mare și Sfânt Boulevard, the Metropolitan Cathedral „Nativity of the Lord”, the Parliament, the Circus, the Opera, and Ballet National Theatre "Maria Bieșu”, the Presidency of the Republic of Moldova, the Railway Station, the monument "The Train of Pain”, the National Square, the Arch of Triumph, the monument Ștefan cel Mare, the Public Garden, the Classics Alley, etc.

Day 3: Soroca

Travel to Soroca. Participation in the festival ”La cuptorul cu placinte”, visit the ”Candle of Gratitude”, the fortress Soroca and the Museum of History and Ethnography, the Roma Hill, the outdoor workshop of stone craftsmen in Cosăuți, Monastery Cosăuți.

Travel to Chișinău.

Day 4: Departure

Transfer to the airport in Chisinau for the trip back home.
