The Fortress Tighina, situated on the bank of the river Nistru, was one of the strongest fortresses of Moldova from the 15th century. It was recalled by Turkish Bender. Tighina was once an important point in the commercial way of Moldova, it was a connection between Europe and the Orient.
The Fortress Tighina was a little destroyed in the Russian-Turkish war in 1806-1812. In the first years of the 19th century, it was among the first-class fortresses of first class from the Russian Empire.
