Monastery Japca is situated in Florești district, on the shore of the river Nistru. It is the only Monastery in Basarabia that was never closed by Soviet authorities. It was founded in the 17th century. The metropolitan Gavriil Bănulescu Bodoni gave it the status of a monastery, and in the 19th century, it was completely reconstructed.
Here, there are 5 sources, the main one is Saint Maria, and it is considered to have healing water. The monastery has its doors open for all guests, especially from Ukraine, Romania, and Russia. The status of the monastery is very severe, it prohibits the use of electricity, telephones, television, as well as the use of the internet.
